My Experience during Canadian Music Week

Last weekend, the musicians took over the city of Toronto with their sound. I had the pleasure of attending Canadian Music Week this year and it was incredible! We have a lot of talent in Canada and this festival is a chance for that talent to get heard. I am currently an intern at Infinity Communications and one of our clients is the Digital Media Summit, which is apart of CMW. Having worked this event, I was provided a wrist band that allows me access to all shows! This worked out perfectly since my boyfriend’s band, Tomahawk Love, was performing during Canadian Music Week. I was given an extra wrist band that I gave to Kevin’s cousin who was visiting from Montreal.

When we went to Toronto on Saturday, with our wrist bands on our wrists, I was excited to discover some new music and best of all, Canadian music at that!

Kevin’s band (Tomahawk Love) played at the Hard Rock Cafe and they were amazing, as always! I highly recommend you to check them out! So much energy when they are on stage, it’ll make you want to dance the night away! You can find their music on YouTube or you can follow them on Twitter @TLoveBand and Facebook as Tomahawk Love.

You know a band has got what it takes based on their live performance. If you have never heard of a band before and they get your attention when they are performing live, with nothing but their instruments and their vocals, you know you have just come across some true talent.

I have experienced this many times, but during CMW one band in particular got my attention. They are called Nature Of, an Indie band from Edmonton. I managed to talk to some of the band members and was given one of their demo albums. It has been on repeat on my iPod ever since! Check them out on Facebook and YouTube!

I recommend checking out these festivals and discovering some new music, that isn’t over played on the radio. You never know, that Indie band you see might just be the next big thing!!
